International Shipping, Customs and Returns
jomon-aura is a small kimono remake workshop in Nagasaki, Japan. We welcome international customers, but overseas orders naturally involve a few practical questions: shipping time, tracking, customs duties, VAT, import taxes and returns.
This page explains the general policy and expectations for international orders. Exact conditions may vary by destination country, shipping method and order type, so final details should always be confirmed before production or purchase.

Shipping from Japan
Finished pieces are packed carefully and shipped from Japan. The available shipping method may depend on the destination country, parcel size, value and current postal or courier conditions.
When possible, we recommend using a trackable shipping method for international orders. Tracking helps both the customer and the maker confirm where the parcel is during transit.
Delivery time
Delivery time varies by country and shipping method. Customs inspection, local holidays, weather, postal delays and courier conditions can all affect the final delivery date.
For custom-made pieces, please consider both production time and shipping time. If you need the dress for a specific date, tell us before ordering. We will be honest about whether the timing seems realistic.
Customs duties, VAT and import taxes
International orders may be subject to customs duties, VAT, import taxes, handling fees or other charges in the destination country. These charges are set by the buyer’s country and are not controlled by jomon-aura.
Because rules differ by country, we cannot predict the exact amount in advance. Please check your local customs or tax information before ordering if you are unsure.
In general, the buyer is responsible for any import duties, taxes or customs-related fees charged by their country.
Customs documents
International shipments require customs information. The parcel description and declared value must be accurate. We cannot mark an item as a gift or declare a false value in order to avoid customs charges.
Accurate customs information protects both the customer and the maker and helps avoid problems during delivery.
Ready-made items and custom-made items
There is an important difference between ready-made pieces and custom-made pieces.
- Ready-made item: already completed before purchase.
- Custom-made item: made specifically for the customer after design, measurements and fabric details are confirmed.
Custom-made items are usually handled differently from ready-made items because they are made for one person using limited vintage fabric. Please confirm the policy for your order before production begins.
Returns and exchanges
Because custom kimono remake dresses are made from limited vintage fabric and tailored to agreed details, returns or exchanges may not be possible for reasons such as change of mind, size preference not communicated before production, or customs fees.
If there is a problem with the item, please contact us as soon as possible after delivery with clear photos and a description. We will review the situation carefully and discuss a fair response.
Final return conditions should be confirmed before purchase, especially for custom-made items.
Vintage fabric condition
Many jomon-aura pieces are made from vintage Japanese kimono silk. Vintage fabric may include small signs of age, such as faint marks, weave variation, storage creases or subtle color differences.
We inspect fabric before production and avoid unsuitable areas as much as possible. However, vintage silk is not the same as newly manufactured fabric. Its history is part of its character.
